I am trying to avoid the fact that I probably need to go up a pant size. However, this morning I contemplated using the old pregnancy trick where you wrap a hair tie around your button to extend the waistline of your pants. And NO, I am not pregnant, so not a super proud moment for me. I mean they fit, but they are not the most comfortable…..queue the yoga pants. THANK THE SWEET, SWEET LORD FOR YOGA PANTS!!
I have a range of sizes in my closet you would not believe. I could fully clothe a short woman from size 0 to size 12. My husband does not understand my need to keep all the different sizes of everything. Ummm……because I don’t know what size I am going to be next month or how many sizes I will be in the future, duh. A few years back I did maintain my goal weight for a decent period of time, and I actually got rid of all my bigger clothes. It was so empowering and energizing…and EXPENSIVE when I had to restock my wardrobe after gaining some of the weight back…so lesson learned.
I basically live in stretchy pants right now since I work from home most of the time. This is great, except that stretchy pants are like that friend that lets you walk around with food stuck in your teeth. They keep fitting even when you gain weight, which is not helpful. Sometimes you don’t realize how bad it is, until you try and put on real pants with a zipper and a button and reality smacks you in the face. You have to make a decision to button your super tight pants and deal with the almost permanent button tattoo on your stomach later, or to use the hair-tie trick to buy you a little extra room. Sometimes I just wear an oversized top with my tight pants. I tell myself that’s the fashion trend anyways, right? AND, bonus, this sometimes allows me to just not button them at all. However, this can be a dangerous game if the zipper isn’t strong enough to hold on it’s own so be careful before trying this. I have had some epic fails with this trick I would prefer not to share.
I have become so used to wearing stretchy pants, that I have to mentally prepare myself for real pants now. This is definitely not healthy. I need to get back on track with my healthy eating and workouts, so I can free myself from being trapped in these super comfy, super forgiving stretchy pants. Our relationship has become a bit toxic. Basically, my stretchy pants have become an enabler.
I know what I need to do, I am just having a hard time actually doing it. But it’s time, I have to take a stand. I love you stretchy pants, but I want to see other pants too. It’s not you, it’s me.

Ha Ha… this is SO true. Ummmm I recently discovered high waisted jeans and OMG!! Life changing…however yoga pants are forever my faves! XO
Very, very funny! It hits home with all of us except those women who must be from another planet. I hit bottom with my shorts… and decided to cut the legs off my favorite sweat pants, no zipper, no button (no style sadly)
